The High Pointe community is a multi-generational community, with many young married couples and young families. Our older and long time members provide great leadership and mentoring for these younger generations, while the young keep the church vibrant and relevant.
As might be expected in a large congregation, there is a diversity of people, with all types of different backgrounds, professions, and stages in life. In many ways, the church reflects the community of McKinney; however, we seek to reach out to all peoples.
The apostle Paul wrote these words about the church: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Gal. 3:28). This is the church that we seek to be. A church where there is neither black nor white, CEO nor service worker, male nor female. A people where all are equally in need of a Savior, Jesus Christ, and all are equally forgiven. We invite you to be a part of this people.

Our Beliefs
God
We believe there is but one God who has revealed himself in three persons--the Father (our Creator), the Son of God (Jesus, our Savior), and the Holy Spirit (our Guide).
Humanity
We believe that though we are born good, each of us reaches an age where we knowingly sin (violate God's will), separating us from God and each other. Thus, we need a Savior!
Salvation We believe that God so loved the world that he sent his Son to die for us. Through his death and resurrection, Christ defeated sin and death, making our salvation possible. This salvation is by grace (the free gift of God) and is received through faith (trust) in Christ Jesus.
Faith We believe faith is expressed in believing that God raised Jesus from the dead and confessing that Jesus is Lord. Faith is also expressed in repenting of our sins and being baptized (immersed) into Christ's name. In this trusting act of baptism, we receive forgiveness of sins and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. [Rom. 10:9-10; Acts 2:38]
The Church We believe that when a person is saved, God places him or her into the church and he or she becomes a part of Christ's body. We invite all to accept God's offer of salvation and become a member of his church.
Eternity We believe that there is a heaven and a hell, and that Jesus will return again to judge the living and the dead. All of the dead will be resurrected, and those in Christ will put on incorruptible, Spiritual bodies and live eternally with God, reigning with God and Christ in the new heaven and new earth.
Our Mission
Our Mission
Our life and mission is centered around Christ's life and mission.
Jesus gave his mission to his disciples, saying, "As I have been sent [by the Father], so I am sending you" (Jn.20:21). Thus, we are by our very nature a "missional" (sent) church, and he is the pattern for our life and mission.
Seeking, Serving, Sharing
What are we sent to do? Following Christ's example and his own words of why he came/why he was sent, we are to take up his mission of:
- Seeking the lost (Lk. 19:10). 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."
- Serving the community (Mk. 10:45),
45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
and
- Sharing the good news (Lk. 4:43). 43 But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.”
We exist not for ourselves, but for God and others. We must have an outward focus.
Our Worship
Welcoming
We are praying everyday that God sends people just like you into our lives. And just as God has done with us, we seek to take people wherever they are in their walk with God. You will be greeted with a smile and a warm latte at our coffee bar (Higher Grounds).
Whether you need space or want to engage in meaningful conversation, we seek to be responsive to your needs. If you are looking for deeper relationships, we also invite you to check out one of our connection groups.
God and Christ Centered
Our worship focuses on what God has accomplished through Jesus Christ. We praise him by telling of all of his wonderful nature and all of his mighty acts of creation and salvation. We talk to him by offering up prayers, and through Scripture readings and messages from the word of God we listen to him. Through our giving we thank him and acknowledge his rule over all of our lives.
Spiritual
When we gather together, we believe that God himself is present through his Holy Spirit. We offer up spiritual songs using our voices, and we seek to show that the Spirit is indeed among us by demonstrating the characteristics of the Spirit--love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We celebrate the Lord's Supper each week, there encountering the risen Christ and remembering his death and resurrection.
Culturally Relevant
In today's culture, multimedia is a way of life, and so appropriate video, slides, and songs that enhance and illustrate the biblical message are used each Sunday. Our Internet based culture is also highly interactive, and so people share their stories or testimonies of faith, with questions being asked during the message to engage the members. Messages offer practical help for daily Christian living at work, in the family, and in the church.
Children Friendly
Jesus said that unless we become like little children, we cannot enter into the kingdom of God. One of the favorite parts of the service for young and old alike at High Pointe is our "Children Helping Children" section, in which children stream down to the front during a children's song and give a small donation that goes towards helping needy children. Their giving hearts teach us about God.
To help both parents and children worship, there is a "Kidzone" section of worship for children age three to second grade. A twos nursery is also provided for Sunday morning worship.
Uplifting
Through focusing on God, our faith is built up for service to others throughout the week. We serve each other in our "worship service" by providing opportunities for fellowship, sharing, confessing, prayer requests, and responding to God's word. People are welcome to be outwardly expressive in their worship or not, each as God has made them.
