High Pointe seeks to minister to all people, including those who are deaf or hearing impaired. Each Sunday a person signs throughout the worship service, helping those who cannot hear be able to listen to the message and raise up their thoughts and voices before God.

 

Here is an interview with Brandon Haynes, one of the interpreters in the deaf ministry at High Pointe.

 

 

We offer interpretation for Bible classes, Sunday morning services, and on Wednesday evening we offer a conversational sign language session.  All events are for both hearing and hearing-impaired people.

 

The best way to get involved is to show up on Wednesday evening for the conversational session.  This is open for those who want to start learning sign language, and for hose who are very advanced in signing. This is where most of the personal interaction begins.  We meet in the library (on the left if you enter through the west-side doors).  We start 'unofficially' about 6:45 pm and chat until 8:00 pm and sometimes later.  Just show up. People arrive thoughout the evening.

 

If you need interpreting to understand the services, we suggest you sit  in
the front 3 rows on the north side of the auditorium.  If we see a new face we
will introduce ourselves, but don't hesitate to do the same.
