Children and their parents are encouraged to be ambassadors of Jesus Christ in their daily lives by encouraging, serving, and showing everyone they know with the life-changing grace of Jesus.
One of the major ways that the Children's Ministry is reaching out as a church is by adopting nearby Vega Elementary school (see video above). This partnership is a 3-5 year commitment in which the church serves the school in many ways, including:
Providing financial assistance with school supplies and food and clothing supplied by our Food Pantry and Clothing ministries. This also includes "Christmas for Children," (see below) where High Pointe families adopt children at Vega who are in need at Christmas time and provide them with Christmas gifts.
Assisting children in their emotional and educational development through High Pointe members volunteering to be mentors to these children. This can be as simple as joining a child for lunch or reading a book to them.
Being a blessing to the teachers and school officials. This can include assisting teachers in the classroom, volunteering to be man or woman power at various school events, or helping wherever needed.
Christmas for
Children
This is a church-wide
project coordinated by the Children's Ministry. On the second Sunday in
December, we provide a "Christmas
store" where approximately 50 families from the community are invited to "shop" free of charge for their children's Christmas gifts.
Children Helping Children
Each Sunday during worship, children of all ages are invited to
bring their offerings to the front after a special prayer. The
offerings are used to support children in El Salvador and to buy
Christmas presents, school clothes and Bibles for children in the
McKinney area.
