Reaching Out
Church Planting & Genesis Alliance

“The single most effective evangelistic methodology under heaven is planting new churches.”  --Peter Wagner

Research studies confirm Peter Wagner's assertion that church planting is an effective evangelistic method.
  • Churches under 3 years of age win an average of 10 people/year for every 100 members
  • Churches 3-15 years of age win an average of 5/year for every 100 members
  • Churches over 15 years win an average of 3/year for every 100 members
As a church ages, it is easy for the church to rely on out dated methods, or it becomes inward focused. Church planting begins with a clear purpose of reaching lost people, and all of the efforts and resources are focused around this goal. There are also no entrenched  ways of thinking and no structural hurdles to overcome, so needed changes are made easily. While we have often recognized the need for starting new churches overseas, the need for church planting in the United States is great. Consider these numbers:
  • 1900 - 28 churches for every 10,000 Americans
  • 2004 – 11 churches for every 10,000 Americans
  • Number of unchurched in US has doubled from 1991 to 2004
  • The United States is the fifth largest mission field in the world
  • Weekly church attendance is 18-23% in the US and plummeting
The need for church planting is great, and the High Pointe Church of Christ recognizes this need and is showing leadership in this area. Currently, High Pointe is supporting two works, The Genesis Alliance, and a Collin County Church Plant (links found below).

Harvest Sunday

World Bible School - Online!
World Bible School has long been used as a successful Bible correspondence course. Through this ministry, people have been reached around the world for Christ.

Now World Bible School is online, increasing the ease and potential reach of this ministry. With a computer, and a donation of $10/month, anyone can help share the gospel with someone from around the world or right here in the United States. High Pointe will pay the $10/month cost for any of our members who participate in this ministry.

Samaritan Inn

The Samaritan Inn is the only homeless shelter in Collin County. As the economy has gone down in recent months, the number of people--including whole families--that have become homeless has increased dramatically.

One of our members, Patty Hampton, is organizing a puppet show ministry for the Samaritan Inn. This ministry seek to bring some joy and Bible teaching into the lives of the homeless children at the shelter.

On Harvest Sunday, our day dedicated towards giving for outreach, the children of our congregation donated some of their stuffed animals to these children. The children came down with their stuffed animals during the "Children Helping Children" time of worship, and the stage was overflowing with stuffed animals in an outpouring of love.

If you would like to be a part of this ministry, please contact Patty Hampton.

Grief Recovery
As Christians, we do not grieve as those who have no hope (1 Thess. 5), for we know that we will be reunited with loved in Christ at the resurrection. But we still grieve, and this grief is a necessary part of any healing process.

The Grief Recovery ministry meets for several weeks at different times of the year as the need for this ministry arises. Please contact Sharon Foster for meeting times, dates, and locations.

Job Networking
Are you looking for work? In today's bad economy, many good, hard-working people are struggling to find a job, including many Christians. And yet, often other Christians know of jobs or are in a position to hire people. Ever heard of six degrees of separation? By working within just six different network of relationships, we can be connected with virtually anyone in the world.

This group helps to connect those who are out of work and those who are looking by the use of social networking.

Here is how it works. Go to the Missional Outreach Network and join the "Job Networking in North Dallas" group. This is a highly interactive site that makes it easy to comment, discuss, and post documents and files.

If you are looking for a job, please post your resume there and describe what you are looking for/qualified for. If you are someone who is hiring, or are in a position to hire please put a job description or link to this information here.

Kristie Allen, a member at the High Pointe Church of Christ, will be helping to match people and resumes up for High Pointe members. If you would like to contact her directly, you can email her on this site or at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
